Item not as described (wrong size) - can I claim cost of postage to return it as well as request a refund?

It's taken 13 days to receive the trousers only to find that they are 30" leg, not 32" as described, so look bloody tupid on my 6' 2" husband. Want to claim a refund and assume that I should return the trousers to the seller but want to know if I can ask for the cost of postage to be added to my "claim"? Thanks.

you do need to return these, and using trackable post - eg recorded delivery.

You can ask for a refund of the the return postage. A good seller will give you this, but isn't obliged to and indeed, if you go through a paypal dispute paypal won't refund the return postage

Thanks SLM. Unfortunately, a glance at the two negative feedbacks (from only 16 transactions!) suggest that he 's not the most amenable person... And it was a Paypal transaction - bugger.

paypal was the best bit - if you had paid by any other means you may not get any refund at all - at least with paypal, once you open the dispute, give them the tracking number to prove you have returned, you will get a refund

you should ask for the return postage to be refunded as well i think. I dont sell much on ebay but listed a dress as age 3-5 instead of age 3-4 and ive refunded the full cost plus the cost of my buyers return postage and apologised as my mistake not his so same as your prediciment - good luck!

I bought a bag from e-bay which arrived not as described. The chap was selling it for his daughter and was unaware that bag faulty. I sent it back to him and he refunded both sets of P & P and gave me a little extra on top for inconvenience.

There are some good ebayers out there.
