In the past I have enjoyed selling on eBay as a way to make a bit of money on clearing out clutter.

Now I just feel like people use eBay to get something for nothing.

I'm going to stop posting abroad since items are apparently not arriving and eBay are refunding my buyers Angry

The latest, is I sold a jigsaw puzzle in May - and the buyer messaged today to say pieces are missing. I know full well they aren't as item was completed and checked prior to listing. No doubt they are expecting a refund!?! But really...from MAY?

Vengeful did you provide proof of postage or delivery to the address supplied with the original payment, to PayPal? That’s all you need to win an unauthorised transaction case.

19lottie82 - is there any reason why you are so defensive of EBay? Myself and other mumsnetters are only sharing our experiences. I am an experienced eBay seller and I have personally come across these problems.

rain I’m not defensive of eBay, it just gets my goat when people don’t follow the rules required to maintain their seller protection then like to moan how they are hard done by. A lot of times these problems could be avoided. It’s helpful to other posters if they’re aware how to avoid repeat scenarios.

@blueshoes, you can filter for private sellers, I mostly do this as I'm after genuine eBay items, recycling unused or second hand items rather than buying new. I have bought all the furniture in my house (not my bed or sofas) this way, and it's so much better for the planet and it means I can have real wood items with character and dovetail joints rather than cheap shit veneered mdf

I share the sentiments-ok for cheap stuff you don’t mind losing a few quid here or there but some folk take the piss! The amount of people who say the didn’t receive the goods, or they’re mucky or don’t fit because you didn’t say this or that! Grre! To send something back they only paid 99 p for! Fecking resell it!

I sold something - after 48 hours the buyer hadn’t paid, so I sent a payment reminder and got a really snotty message back saying she was on holiday and would pay at her convenience when she got back!

Hope you cancelled the sale

hope you cancelled the sale

Why? That’s just a bad idea. You will get a defect on your selling account and more than likely get negative feedback, which eBay won’t remove.

The best thing to do is remain polite, Send the item once the buyer has paid then block them from purchasing from you again.

When you cancel they can’t leave feedback.

Yes, buyers can, unless it’s a mutually agreed cancellation.
