Ebay giving me a username?

A bit confused here. Just registering for an ebay account as I closed my original one a few months ago. Just as I was about to post and list my item I noticed that they had given me a user name. Nowhere when I was registering was I asked to supply one or chose one, so I am wondering whats going on? I have since changed it to one of my own choosing, but am now a bit worried as to whether to list my item, security worries etc.

It’s just standard, I set up a new ebay account for my business yesterday. You don’t have anything to worry about. Just change it to what you want. I don’t really understand what security issues you are concerned about?

It is often a selection of bits of your name and bits of your e.mail account with some random numbers, they brought it in after the hacking a while ago. I recently opened a new one for 'secret' shopping and has bits of my names and some odd figures. I left it as it is easy to remember and no-one would think to look for it to find out what I was buying.
