Am I the worst e-bayer ever!

Bought a bugaboo parasol on e-bay recently. Got carried away and paid as much as it would have been if I had got off my arse and gone to the shop and bought a new one. Turns out it doesn't fit my type of bugaboo. So - thinking some-one else would be as stupid as me and spend the same amount - put it back on e-bay. It just sold for less than half as much as I paid for it! Feeling utterly demotivated by my first e-bay experience. Any one have any worse ones?

go to their payment, scroll down to the refund bit right at the bottom.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2007 21:38

You are all rotten sods about eBay tonight

have some respect, you have sold it to this person, now send it on to them

it isn't yours any more it is theirs

you screwed up, we have all done it. Do the decent thing and next time hopefully things will work out better

hayes · 20/05/2007 21:39

I have refunded someones money too, I was selling a pushchair but to be honest the I totally underestimated postage/carrier costs so I would lose out completely...I told her the wheel was damaged and gave my apologies. She was very understanding and gave me a positive though

LynetteScavo · 20/05/2007 21:47

I think Franny bought it!

NotQuiteCockney · 20/05/2007 21:48

Frances is right, 'I decided I'm not selling it' isn't a fair reason to cancel an auction, particularly after it's ended ...

kittypants · 20/05/2007 21:50

i am pissed and se both sides but do kind of agree with franny.

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2007 21:55

LOL Lynette I will get that parasol by hook or by crook

No, I am a long term eBay buyer and seller and it hacks me off when the attitude is "don't worry about the rules, just take what you can". There is a certain element of trust on eBay, which I think is eroded by people acting like this.

vimfuego · 20/05/2007 21:59

I'm with Franny.

Do the honest thing.

bizziebee · 20/05/2007 22:06

Right - decision made! Am going to send the parasol off tomorrow and have done with it. Think this will be the end of my career as a wheeler and dealer though!

Your concience will be for ever clear!

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2007 22:13

Oh you star bizziebee

don't give up, we have all had transactions where things went wrong

and as Lynette says your conscience will be clear

vimfuego · 20/05/2007 22:25

Good on you, well done.

CarGirl · 20/05/2007 22:29

Or you could email her and tell her the whole truth and give her a complete refund plus a bit extra compensation towards her hassle if she agrees to it - may still be cheaper than having to buy another??????

kittypants · 21/05/2007 09:28

agree with cargirl, why not try that first?

bizziebee · 21/05/2007 17:28

Just returned from the post office - parasol packaged up and sent! I will just have to hope for cloudy weather! Thanks all for your advice.

I hope the buyer appreciates your honesty. You could have emailed her and explained the situation but I guess its done now.
Good on you for being so honest

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2007 21:36

Yay, well done

CarGirl · 22/05/2007 00:00

TBH if you use your bug forward facing a shade a babe is better in strong sun, or if you still use it rear facing a ray shade or protect a bub is better than a parasol anyway

bizziebee · 22/05/2007 19:32

thanks cargirl - think i have come to terms with my disastrous e-baying now. Am glad I have sent it off.

bizziebee · 22/05/2007 19:33

The other thing I didn't mention was that it was the wrong colour anyway and didn't match!
