Non payer after 16 days - how long to close case?

I had a buyer who didn't pay within four days. I asked if they still wanted the item, they said yes and would pay a few days later - a week after the auction finished. I said that was fine.

But she didn't pay, I left it four more days then asked again if she still wanted it. No reply so after around 11 days I opened a case. But she's not responding to that.

How long will the case be open for? i don't want to hang onto the item on the off chance she might pay one day, neither do I want to be charged fees.

How do I get out of this? It's not big money but it's a pita as if she buys I have to drop everything to post and I'm going on holiday soon. Case has open around four days now

"If the buyer doesn't pay, you need to manually close the case in the Resolution Centre. You can do this as early as 4 days after you opened the case, or up to 36 days after the listing ended."

"If you don't close the case, it expires on the 37th day after the listing has ended and you won't receive a final value fee credit."

She's had enough time - close the case now !

Thanks, I have closed it. The sale ended on the 2/4/16 I asked her twice nicely if she still wanted.

Blocked her and changed my buyer preferences so I don't get buyers with open cases.

People will often bid on the same item with 2 or 3 sellers and only pay the lowest price. Ebay are crap at policing the "3 strikes and you're out" non-payer policy.

I have resisted it for more this time. I was selling quite a few things in the same catagory and that was the only thing that had one bid. Unless I was just unlucky. Seemed like a bid because it was a bargain, not because they wanted it.

I'm too soft so I have set automatic unpaid case management now. I have sold on EBay for years, now I'm remembering why.....

Annoying, isn't it? They ruin it for the genuine cases - I sold something to a lady who was on holiday, she had a problem with her PayPal, trying to sort it, blah blah blah....my finger was poised over the Unpaid Item button, but no, she got back from holiday, apologised profusely, paid up, then left me a great feedback.

Then you have idiots like your customer, OP.

The non-payers I've had fought hard to win their items. Go figure. It's the lack of response that I find baffling - why not just say "Sorry I messed up/changed my mind" to save the seller the time and hassle.

I'd still block them but at least it would be over and done with (and relisted) in days instead of weeks.
