Buyer left feedback but now says item not recieved?

Posted 2nd class, on the day I would expect item to arrive the buyer left feedback which said as described. Now 4 days later I have a message saying when am I going to post item as not arrived yet? What should I do now?

They have received it and left you feedback.

They may have messaged in error

Sorry guys..... Wrong answer!

If they open a case with eBay then the fact they have already left feedback means nothing (they may have left it for the wrong item by mistake).

Unless you have proof of delivery (I'm guessing you don't?) then you will have to refund.

I'd respond to the buyer and point out they have already left you positive feedback..... Did they send you the message in error?

If they persist then ask them to open an official "not recieved" case with eBay so they can assist Royal Mail with tracking down the item. This weeds a lot of the scammers out as they suspect it may lead to them being caught.

Thanks all. No proof of delivery (stupid I know - this is the 6th thing I have sold on ebay so not really clear on the best thing to do and just went for the cheapest postage). Buyer has now emailed to say 'oops left wrong feedback'. It is so frustrating as I am sure I am being scammed but can't do anything. I have said to check for parcel and that I can report missing after 15 days from postage so will see what she does next.

You can't force the buyer to wait until you can claim from Royal Mail.

Ask them to open a case for non delivery, and if they do then refund.

If you ask them to wait you're just putting off the inevitable and more likely to piss them off and therefore encourage them to leave negative feedback .

Did you obtain a proof of posting?

What is their feedback like?

Proof of posting is only useful in the sense that it is required to make a claim from Royal Mail. It doesn't make any difference to eBay claims. Only a proof of delivery is accceptavle to maintain seller protection.

Yes I know that technically.

I had a similar thing recently and sent them a picture of the receipt and that I had forwarded it to eBay etc and then heard nothing.

When I looked at their buyers feedback it was all positives obviously but with Beware said item not received or smiler next to about six of them!!

It may be a scam or genuine INR...but..all you can do is ask them to double check with post office and with neighbours in case it has been left there without a card through letterbox (can happen) if they still think it is missing then refund without quibbling and claim from RM if you got a proof of posting cert. RM is looking more closely at evidence of multiple INR from same address. Oh and add them to your blocked bidder list.

oh and items can be delayed - it hasn't been that long - 4 days -so maybe ask them to hang on a couple more days in case it does turn up and can they let you know if that is the case. But there is nothing to be done really without proof of delivery and always upload tracking numbers on the day you post.
