Urgh, I need to accept a return on this item, don't I?!

Sold a Ugg Sheepskin Care Set a couple of weeks ago. Described it as it was. All bottles between 90 and 100% full but the outside box shows signs of wear. I know they were that full because I only ever used two of the bottles once, the rest never and before I listed them I actually unscrewed them and looked inside to judge how to describe the content.

Now, 2 weeks later, the buyer requests a return saying the item isn't as described. Bottles aren't 90-100% full, one of them has less than half the content left.

I can't make sense of this as obviously I checked before listing and I have no way of knowing what the buyer did to the bottles between buying them 2 weeks ago and complaining now.

However, I keep reading that ebay always sides with the buyer anyway.

So do I accept a return now even though I know the buyer is lying and potentially emptied the bottles for whatever reason?

Did you have photos? If you can see how much is left in bottles from the photos I would say sorry but description was accurate and you have photos showing the quantity in the bottles so can't accept a return for that reason.

If you don't have pictures you might have yo just accept the return though.

No, I don't have pictures. How do you even take pictures of bottle content when the bottle isn't see through?

I'm really annoyed with this. If they've poured stuff away I can't even resell.

The first time I've ever had trouble with a buyer and I ebay a lot. I sort of feel personally insulted.

Would you wait 2 weeks to check an item you bought used on ebay? I just don't believe that.

I'm afraid yes, you're right, you have no choice but to accept the return.

I didn't realise the bottles weren't see through.

You could try and argue the case with eBay that they were almost full and that the buyer has now used them, or offer a partial refund. I probably would try and argue it as buyer has used item but you may get a negative feedback and find that eBay side with the buyer anyway.

Do as 19lottie82 says and accept the return or just refund without having your blood pressure going through the roof in receiving bottles the buyer has messed around with.

Assuming the buyer is dishonest you want to find a way to close down the problem sooner rather than later. Arguing will very likely be to your detriment.

Check the weight on the postage receipts maybe? Do they show the exact weight? If it comes back weighing much less than you sent it for would eBay accept that?

I feel your pain! Sold something and 3 weeks later they are telling me the pack was ripped in the post and the item stolen! eBay say I have to refund. Really not fair!
