I put a set of bottles on gumtree . lady contacted me wanting to pay by PayPal and arrange a courier.
sounds slightly dodgy what do you all think.
I understand that she is unable to walk but im wary may end up in a situation with no bottles and her claiming were not received

no - it can be dodgy. You have no proof of delivery and no contract with the courier if they are damaged. Cash only. I don't think many couriers will cover bottles for breakages either so they wouldn't be insured against any damage.

monkeysaymoo · 07/04/2015 21:23

Just say sorry you are not in a position to package them appropriately or wait in for a courier

natharley11 · 07/04/2015 21:23

that what I was afraid of that they may not arrive or she could claim not arrived. then claim back through PayPal

The unable to walk thing - that could be a lie too. Just tell them no it is not possible.

Surely you just arrange tracked signed for delivery just like you do with ebay so you have proof of delivery? I don't see how it's different to ebay? Send an invoice with a copy of the description and listing id in the comments section so you have proof of what she bought.

finding a courier who insures glass is either impossible or very pricey.

RedRugNoniMouldiesEtc · 08/04/2015 05:21

Hmm, I read bottles as plastic baby style but yes glass might be more complex.

SoonToBeSix · 08/04/2015 05:24

No you are being paranoid, it's collection and payment by paypal you need to be wary of not delivery.

natharley11 · 08/04/2015 08:35

thanks all I have emailed back and said it is cash on collection only and if she can't do so will have to decline the sale
