Bid on a nice dress that i would really like. Find i am them outbid. Annoying but thats how ebay works. Looked at the highest bidder (its just me and them) and see that she has bid on 8 other items all by the same seller. Her bid activity is 100% with this Seller so i think im right in assuming that she is a mate pushing up the price. Just bloody annoying as i cant find this dress anywhere else. So have decided to just not bid again and see if she relists it if no one else bids. Thought about reporting her but then she might not get to relist it and i would really like this dress (cheapish as well :D)

Thats annoying. I would report her though. What if someone else bids on the item and they win it - she had got away with it again.

tittytittyhanghang · 25/07/2013 10:54

As I suspected the other person has one it and she is offering me a second chance offer at my highest bid, which was only £6 more than the original auction price. Im tempted but annoyed.

why would you buy it when you have been shill bid? report it and buy elsewhere surely?

nickstmoritz · 25/07/2013 11:33

If you really like it and think it is still worth the money, so still a decent bargain I would go for it. I don't really agree with shilling but I would just weigh up what I thought was still ok for that item and if it is a good buy then fine.

VivaLeBeaver · 25/07/2013 11:39

I'd buy it, report her and leave her really shitty feedback.

I'm not quite sure about what happened though. With this second chance offer are you having to pay more than you would have done if it hadn't been for the shill bidder? Or has it gone down to the pre shilling price?

I suppose its possible that this seller is just having trouble with someone placing fake bids on her stuff???

tittytittyhanghang · 25/07/2013 17:09

it was on at a starting price of £29 (and i hoped to get it at this price as there were no other bidders). Within minutes of me putting in my bid ( i put in £35 but obviously it stayed at £29 due to no other bidders) the shill bid came in at £36. So now she is offerering me second chance offer at £35. Ive looked for this dress online elsewhere but it seems sold out in my fat size. Im still thinking about it. Buying it and then leaving bad feedback seems a good deal for me :D.

LilyBossom · 25/07/2013 17:23

why don't you offer her £29 and say that is the price you would have paid if you hadn't been shill bid.

lborolass · 25/07/2013 17:27

I'd call her bluff to, tell her you're pretty sure what she's doing and will be reporting her to ebay.

How can you see what other people have bid on, thought that since they anonimised the usernames you couldn't find that info out anymore.

UniqueAndAmazing · 25/07/2013 17:31

call her bluff.

tell her you're willing to buy it for £29, but that you will be reporting to ebay.

sarahtigh · 25/07/2013 21:22

she will just add you to blocked bidder list and could report you to ebay first for extortion so either buy because you want it or leave it you could get into trouble for leaving negative feedback about shill bidding if not proven and she will be able to get feedback removed

tittytittyhanghang · 25/07/2013 22:44

on her other current items the top bidder is the same but anon i.e aa**aa(823).

OP posts:
UniqueAndAmazing · 26/07/2013 13:43

i see what sarahtigh says - you'll just have to report her without telling her.

sarahtigh · 26/07/2013 18:42

all bidders names are disguised so you can not actually check on ID of those bidding against you

Tryharder · 27/07/2013 11:25

FGS don't buy it on the absolute principle of the thing. Report her arse to eBay. This is theft and fraud.

Gingefringe · 04/08/2013 16:02

It's really annoying. Same thing happened to me recently. I would just report her to eBay but not sure if they will actually do anything about it!
When I contacted my seller I asked for an invoice for the lower bid as I was aware that she had inflated the price by shill bidding - she admitted it but then cancelled the transaction saying that the item had been sold on another site! I did leave very bad feedback and reported her to ebay but I note she is still trading and still shill bidding!!
