Item arrived - not in shop bought condition - wwyd

Hi bought some brushes BNIP. Seller says they haven't been opened or used. Unfortunately one of the set has a hair on it and the others have been used too. Should I just leave it or give seller a chance to explain before I leave negative feedback?

i would message the seller first and see what they say/ suggest. Was it in a sealed pack or could they have been put back in by seller.

Thanks. They were in a zip pack but supposedly hadn't been used. Not worth sending back as they were really cheap tbh. What should I ask seller for then if not refund or just draw her attention to it?

I would tell the seller that the item is clearly used and not BN even though it is IP and therefor by eBay/PayPal standard it is SNAD.

I would suggest that you do not want to file a dispute and that you hope the problem can be sorted our between the two of you as you are sure it is a genuine mistake.

The easiest thing would be to return for a full refund, the return postage would also be the sellers responsibility as it is a case of SNAD.

Thanks. Does SNAD meant sold not as described? I don't mind keeping it unofficial and would hope for a resolution between us.

It means significantly not as described.

If you open a dispute you have two options, a case for 'item not received' or a case for 'item significantly not as described'

An item sold as brand new in packaging but being clearly used falls into the SNAD catagory, so you do have grounds to open a dispute against the seller.

but you cannot force the seller to give you the return costs, plus you may need to return tracked in order to get your refund.

return postage is not for the seller to pay in SNAD, a good business seller might but they can not be forced to by ebay etc you get a refund of purchase cost plus original postage

As far as I understand it instead of sending back item as I would incur a postage charge I just leave feedback which outlines my experience or do I give seller the chance to resolve matters perhaps with a partial refund and I can keep brushes?

It's what I had to do on amazon when I sold a psp game. Buyer left negative feedback without consulting me. However we resolved situation
as I refunded his money and let him keep item. He then retracted
the negative feedback. however I have no proof the game was
dirty as he claimed only that he wasn't happy as I had said it was in good condition. Point being it still worked as do the brushes iyswim.
