New to selling on Ebay

I've been buying clothes for DS mainly here and there for the past two years and was going through my closet and considerig listing a few things for sale myself.

Firstly, with the cost for posting, should I buy the packaging material beforehand and weigh my items with the package to get an accurate price or how do people do this..?

I was thinking to wait when there's a free listing before putting anything up for sale. I've been reading on the fees etc., but if there's a free listing event on, does this mean I can post the listing with one picture for free and then pay the fee for any additional photos? I'll only be selling clothes I think.. Also, are the fees payable upfront or on an invoice once a month?

Also, I was thinking to list some DS's clothes I had bought off Ebay, which are still in excellent condition. Is this allowed?

clothing you can do more than one picture free. Yes it is allowed, you bought items so they are yours to sell.

Free listing this weekend. Get items listed in the evening. You will need to look at the new royal mail fees to work out your prices, packaging shouldn't weigh too much.

So just to clarify, if there is a free listing event and none of my listings sell (hope this won't happen!), I won't have to pay anything?

no - you only pay a final value fee on the end price of the item if it is free listing. But if you add extras to your listing you can still incur costs, such as buy it now, fancy backgrounds, subtitles, etc.

You get billed monthly and they email and tell you that, and you can set it up so that bill is paid by paypal. when a buyer pays there are also paypal fees to pay but they are deducted at source and you end up with the balance.

I have so much to list and wondering whether if it'll sell and be worth all this photographing .. Oh well, if I get at least some money out of it: DS's second birthday is coming up and I want to get him some new toys.

start listing now, but schedule it for couple of weeks time. This will say it will cost 6p, but if you go in on the free listing which is before the scheduled time, which this weekend is Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon - log in and then go to edit your scheduled listings. Do it at about 8pm to attract more buyers, then edit your listings one at a time, and send them to be live immediately, then you can not be charged the 6p for scheduling, you can list at your leisure over the next few days and then send them live at the right time of day. you can even list for 10 days with no photos, and then add photos later on as long as there are no bids.

Fazerina - how many free pictures you get depends on what sort of clothes you are selling. With baby clothes (i.e. 0-24 months) you only get one free picture, with other clothes it is 12. You can get round this by posting your extra pictures on Photobucket and pasting the links into the text of your listing. This is easy to do and doesn't cost you anything.
