What are the consequences of neg feedback?

I've been using ebay to buy things for a while now, so up until recently all of my feedback has been for buying rather than selling and it's all been positive.

Last week I decided to sell a few things instead and I sold four things in a week. Anyway, I had a nightmare week with one thing happening after another and one of the items didn't get posted with the rest as a result the buyer didn't get their purchase on time. They then left me negative feedback which let's be honest was fully deserved.

My question is - what actually are the consequences of neg feedback? Will it make people less likely to buy things in the future? Will ebay stop me from selling?

One neg isn't a big deal. I don't even look at f/back when bidding most the time Blush.

Not a big deal although getting your first neg is always crap! You can respond to feedback so maybe put a comment on apologising to show that you are a nice reasonable ebayer.

It can affect your future selling activities. A seller who receives negatives or low scores on their individual ratings, ie, when you mark someone for postage costs or delivery time, or item as described, a number of low ratings will affect a seller's ability to sell.

One neg does not stop you from selling, but a few could seriously cramp your style. And when Ebay slap your hand and tell you you're not good, it feels like a kick in the teeth, especially if the neg or the low rating was received as a result of an unavoidable circumstance.
