I bought a large item on 18th November. In the item description it said collection or courier. I asked in advance whether the seller would arrange the courier or the winning bidder. They replied saying the winning bidder would have to organise it.

I won the auction for a very good price, paid and arranged for the courier to collect on a day convenient to the seller.

The courier refused to take it because it hadn't been packed and, as they hadn't folded it up, was too big for their max dimension limit.

I offered an extra payment to the seller to cover packaging costs (the auction price was so low that even adding this on would still mean I was getting a bargain). They accepted but then took a week to email me their Paypal address. Then another week to tell me what the dimensions were so that I could re-book (and pay for again) the courier.

It's taken almost 4 weeks from winning the item to receiving it (today). The seller's communication has been the worst of any ebayer I have ever experienced in almost a decade of ebaying. If it weren't for the fact that I had won the item for considerably less than others are going for, I would have cancelled the transaction after the failed courier collection and cut my losses.

I feel this deserves a neg because they stated in the description that courier collection was an option so should have been prepared to have it in a suitable condition for a courier to take and also for the appalling lack of communication.

Just wanted some other opinions...incase I am being unfair to the seller.

ebay won't remove your neg. Don't worry about it - he is just chucking his teddy out of the pram - how apt.

Hiccup

You are definetely over-thinking ! You have done nothing wrong, you went above and beyond to ensure you got the item you fairly won and paid for !

Ebay won't take his complaint seriously, trust me ! If it is really bothering you, why don't you try contacting them on the phone and then they can read the emails and give you their assessment ?

Take a deep breath, decide what to do and then don't worry about it ! As fergoose has said, if people do take the time to read his feedback before bidding/buying, it will do him more harm than good. Just that one neg is enough to put a bit of doubt in people's minds, and make them more inclined not to bid on an item he is selling.

I know it's hard because it niggles at you, but you really have nothing to worry about. Xmas Smile

Blimey, he is a proper arsehole.

His comment after your negative will put off way more buyers than if he'd kept his gob shut.

You've done nothing wrong so please don't worry or spend any more time giving him space in your head.

I am very glad you left the seller a neg - and to think you were worrying you were being too harsh. The seller certainly deserves it that is for sure.

Very silly too letting a buyer arrange their own courier. With no proof of delivery an unscrupulous buyer could file not received and get a full refund. Not that I am suggesting you do that. But the seller clearly doesn't know how he should conduct himself. And having an item ready for a courier with no packaging - that is sheer stupidity isn't it?

The Seller is being a twat.

I sold a small sofa on ebay and the buyer arranged a courier to collect it. I washed the sofa's covers, took it apart, taked the fixings securely to the sofa and bubble wrapped anything that might get damaged in transit. I think this is what you're supposed to do!

Piece of string is just shite. I also bought my buggy from an ebay seller and my seller was brilliant. Honestly, the buggy was box fresh!

Thanks, everyone, for the reassurance.

I'll have a think for a while longer about whether to follow up or just leave it as it is.
