buyers didn't receive the item

the buyer contacted me today to say she hasn't received the item . I sent normal 2nd class delivery and failed to get the number on the stamp but I have the. receipt. anything I can do?? I don't believe buyer is telling the thruth because it took her nearly a month to contact me regarding the non delivery even though I let her know when I posted the item, and also she took a long time to pay, I had to ask trhough message and invoice twice. I won't refund and dont care if my acc finishes. eBay has been shit for non business sellers anyway....what do I do now????

refund the buyer and claim from royal mail for the lost item

if you don't the buyer will open a case and ebay will force you to refund. it is part of the user agreement that you send with a signature, and if you don't have proof of delivery ebay will refund the buyer.

and really unless you sent with a signature you really can't prove that she is lying. items do and can go missing in the post.

I've just had to refund 2 small packets that didn't arrive. Despite the fact that Royal Mail lost them, the buyers left me negative feedback. Am not impressed. Was even less impressed when one of them was returned with a 'not collected' stamp from the post office!

no - not if it was standard post. If it was recorded you can track and trace that online with royal mail.

buyer opens a case, money is frozen, ebay ask you to proove delivery, then if this isn't provided they give the buyer the money back. If your paypal then goes into the red they will pursue you for the money.

Naturalbaby, you can reply to the feedback calmly stating that you've had the item back from the sorting office marked uncollected.

That should reassure anyone reading it that it wasn't your fault.

well that is a good way to receive goods for free isn't it? once buyer realise item wasn't sent recorded, they claim they didn't receive it and get money back. by this time they had already good feedback for payment. bitches! eBay sucks. I bought a fake item and the didn't help at all. fool me didn't send item properly. will just buy from now on.

well as a seller you should always send with a signature to protect yourself from non receipt claims. But you will never know, items do go missing, you can't be sure the buyer is lying.

and you can't leave a buyer neg feedback, or even a neg statement now.

If you bought a fake you could have opened a not as described case in ebay and got a refund.

I did, it went nowhere because the seller didn't admit, and both PayPal and eBay closed the case

I did escalate but they closed the case because seller refused to cooparate. I was very new at ebay and didnt know what else to do....

I had this a while back, where a buyer hadn't received the item I posted. I had proof of postage to her address, which I offered to email to her. This seemed to give her the confidence to go to her local post depot & see if the item was there (as she knew I wasn't messing her about) and the item was there. No card had been put through her door, nothing to indicate that the post office had tried to deliver an item for her at all.

I now send all items 2nd class recorded, as for me it isn't worth the hassle of stuff going missing.

So, AutumnGlory - you could suggest to the buyer that she checks at her local post depot (it will be the bigger post office where you go to pick up parcels).

AutumnGlory you should be able to claim the money back through Royal Mail if you have a Certificate of Posting, rather than just a receipt for buying a stamp?

I agree with you that it's not worth the hassle of selling on ebay - I got stung a few times and stopped selling on there completely - it does seem that if a buyer disputes a transaction, as the seller you are stuffed.

Thanks for a the help guys. I asked the buyer if she was absolutely sure that she didnt receive a card from the post office which she replied by asking for trackng number again. I than told her that an item is not considered lost before 3 weeks which will be next week, so I will contact her than. I just have the receipt without her address, I dont think there is hope for me....i will try to convince her going to hef local post depot but than I will have to admit I dont have a tracking number and if she js a dodge buyer it will be easy for her to open the case against me. I guess I am anoyed about this all because therd were many peopld biding on the item, yet I had to chase her for payiment. So I guess she changed her mind after winning and now wants to recover her money. But I cant be sure cant I??

So, I asked the buyer to go to her local depot office and her answer was that she is too busy and that is why she has a note on her door telling the postman to leave parcels with neighbours......so as far as I am concerned the neighbour could well have kept it if they wanted to....can I use this in the argument, do I have a case?

no - none whatsoever. You could call the sorting office yourself to ask if they have the item, but without tracking you will lose a case and ebay will always refund the buyer.

fergoose I've just sent something first class trackable as I'm not happy about the buyer; I presume it should be 'safe' this way. But I'm interested in what you say about sending your stuff with a signature. I don't really know what you mean. Are you talking about 'normal' post here? If so, where do you put your signature - how does that help? Thanks

no with a signature is recorded, signed for or courier - where the recipient signs to show they have received it and you have online proof of it.
