What can I do about this seller over charging postage?

I won 3 tops for DD on ebay all from the same seller. Postage was £2.40 an item which is about right for individual parcels.

I asked if they'd combine postage and they refused saying they'd already packed the items individually. I paid up £7.20 worth of postage. I got a parcel in yesterday's post containing all 3 tops with £2.20 worth of postage on the label.

I sent her a message asking for a partial postage refund and got a message back saying I agreed to her p&p costs when I placed the bids.

I don't mind a small profit on postage but surely this is excessive? I know i can mark them down on P&P and give them a negative but is there anything else I can do - feeling really cross about it. I've been buying on ebay for about 8 years and never experienced anything like this.

Or should I just let it go and put it down to experience.

Maybe put it down to bitter experience.
However, the seller is clearly a bare faced liar! So I'd be pretty pissed off too
Maybe it's worth contacting eBay just to make them aware incase these are her tactics with everyone she sells to. She shouldn't be using postage costs to make a profit.

I have exactly the same issue at the mo, I've decided to leave negative feedback as they've more on postage than I paid for the items
I'm also going to report to eBay I think which I don't like doing but the seller has been really unreasonable and has only been rude when I've asked for a postage refund.

If she said she'd packed the items individually, and she hadn't, complain to her then Ebay as not described. If she'd simply refused to combine on principle, then you wouldn't have a case but she'd be expected to post separately as per listing.

She is risking her whole selling account.

If you leave 3 'one star' or 'two star' ratings on P&P (and communication!) a week apart, she could well be suspended. Perhaps she doesn't know this.

I've directed her to this thread - she's suddenly offered me a £4.50 refund but needs to keep something towards packaging.

I know it's not easy for private sellers, but making a profit on P&P is the way to suspension of one's account.

There seems to be a lo of this about atm - however I have just bought something from a decent person. POstage was quoted at £4 which for two pairs of children's jeans seemed okish to me. When the vendor posted it she found it was only £2.20 so she refunded me £1.50! I was really chuffed

overcharging on postage is getting really common, I hate it and leave low stars as someone said space feedback a week apart and leave 1 star for P&P and communication ( you probably in honesty need to give 4/5 stars for description and speed of delivery )

letting average drop below 4.6 or getting more than 3, 1 or 2 stars you are going to get account restricted

its rubbish to say you agreed to postal charges when you bid as you assume they have weighed item, ie it is over 750g not under ( ok you can guess a t- shirt but thick cardigan jeans it is harder) with clothes i think 50p over postal cost is the very maximum extra justifable. also if you are combining postage you need to combine otheriwse it is separate parcels which happens on some business sites as everything is pre packaged and wrapped jut waiting for address label

like northerns seller if I have misjudged postage I give partial refund via paypal immediately with wee note saying " hi a small refund as postage was less than i thought regards etc"

Have seen items with postage at several times cost of item (think BIN at 2 quid and 12 quid delivery), where it seems clear the seller is evading Ebay fees.

Had a situation with a firm selling on Ebay when I wanted to buy 4 items and they insisted on 3 quid per item with no reduction. I sent a lower payment (don't remember how, now, it was at least 6 years ago) and they threatened to give 4x NPA.

Ended up they only sent 2 items in one package, so their bull about items being sent from different warehouses was rubbish too. 4 small items total 9.96, delivery 11.96. (just found 4 negatives in December 2003)

I put a web page together and in my feedback posted a link to it, as the only way I could make people aware for months or years afterwards what I thought of them!

Unfortunately I'm not having so much luck and about to commence round two of asking for a partial refund through the resolution centre...

being over charged as a seller is just as frustrating as not charging enough when you sell.

I did a massive free list weekend a few months ago and the postage went up on the monday. Every single postage cost did not cover the actual fee. Not one buyer commented on it. The most frustrating was a wii game with accessories that had a max postage allowed and it cost me 3 times that to get it posted!!!

The seller is lucky that you are being so understanding, as if you said that the items hadn't arrived she would have been unable to provide proof of delivery for at least two of them...

I often refund postage if I have accidentally charged more than I realised, do you know that not ONCE any one I have refunded has acknowledged it! oh well, least I have the moral high ground

I always over estimate postage, but then I refund the difference, once I have paid the postage. I have been left out of pocket when I have set it too low.

I bought 2 items from the same seller a day apart.
One was £2 P&P the other £3, they posted the items together a week after the first payment and paid £2.70.
Should they offer a refund or is it up to me to ask?

they should offer a refund, and if they didn't combine the postage they should have sent them in 2 separate parcels, not just one.

I hate it when sellers try to charge extra for Royal mail deliveries to Highlands and Islands.
