paypal review withdrawal to bank for 24 hours - why? what happens then ?

I have had ebay account for years - selling bits of clothing, occasional electrical item, mainly stuff we no longer use - not a business of any sort.

I have sold a few things this week as have a lot of bills - start of school term - and on trying to withdraw to my bank account I have noticed that it says pending. I have a message which states that ebay are reviewing the withdrawal and will take up to 24 hours and will then release money to my bank account.

I was really hoping to get the cash quickly - reason for selling short of cash - and planned to post all items monday morning. However - not keen on posting if there is going to be some delay in money - anybody experienced this.

There are 3 withdrawals all under review - one for £12, one for £14 and one for £60 - all sales from last couple of days. Any ideas ? THanks

i had that too this week, and I have used ebay a lot as have business account too so quite a bit of money passing through, however once checked it says should be in your bank in 2 hours so should in theory be there on monday

I had this recently and raised merry hell with them They are switching to faster payments on a rolling basis which means the money should be in the account within a few hours rather than a few days.

My money was released within 24hours and a further withdrawal after that went through with no hold and was also in the account within hours.

Hey, I was just coming on to write this post!.
I just went to tranfer my funds into my bank account as usual and they say they are holding to 'review' it. Hope it is all above board.

I've just had the same thing-went to transfer £100 yesterday and got the same email.However it has gone through today.Cynical me wonders if it is a ploy to keep my money longer as my bank is shut on Saturdays,so the cash probably won't be in my account until Monday.

Thats what I thought too mirage. I don't really see how they have the right to keep hold of it though?

Hello - update on this review situation. I checked earlier which was just over 24 hours from time i submitted request to review and no change - still pending.

Just checked again now and one of the payments has gone into my bank - therefore - taken just over 25 hours. Maybe this reviewing thing is good because the payment has gone in faster than the usual 2-3 days - have paypal started using faster payments? Will be interesting if they repeatedly review withdrawals - maybe a way of them holding the money overnight.

hi I just had that one too, operhaps they are obliged to do certain checks to stay in business, or possibly they keep a load of money for an extra 48 hours and make a load of interest. who knows...

It's certainly made it quicker to get your cash.
