'new' and 'brand new' / pedantic customer

I am selling a top as BNWT (because it is) and someone's emailed me with lots of v detailled questions. She said she wants to be sure, as if she was to buy it, she'd be selling it on...(fair enough)
She asked if i could guarantee that it was brand new. Not just new, but brand new as in completely untried on. I told her I could not. I have no idea! Surely the average garment has a very good chance of someone having tried it on in shop?! Just because it has tags, doesn't mean its not been inside a changing room...
She emailed back saying I should not list it as new with tags, if I cannot guarantee it's not been tried on. (what then? New other? Used?)
Is she totally right, or barking?
Surely no one can expect something straight from the manufacturer's sweatshop

She also asked me if it was authentic Shock again that's probably fair enough to ask, but there is no reason for her to think otherwise, as I have 100% feedback and been selling for nearly 8 years. I have never knowingly sold anything fake. Which obviously, isn't allowed on eBay.

i think she is barking and I would add her to my blocked bidder list.

Years ago in teh newspaper classified Brand new meant new with original packaging (the equivalent of tags).

Can you guarantee anything you buy hasn't been tried on?!

justtryingtodomybest · 19/07/2012 21:06

Unless you had made it yourself then I don't see how you could guarantee that it had never actually been tried on!

Does that mean I can go into a shop and ask for a discount because the item isn't 'brand' new because someone else has tried it on!

hmmm yeah maybe I should block her now in case she buys it then demands a refund....I've had enough difficult buyers recently..I only posted a few days ago about another

I am with everyone else here - 100% barking and not the sort you would want buying off you anyway.
You'll find the section for blocking bidders in "My Account" and then under "Site Preferences".
Just copy and paste the id into the blocked bidder list and then breathe a sigh of relief that you found out before she's made the purchase Grin
