Help! I have cocked up with a listing - what to do next

So I listed a skirt last Sunday & the auction ends tonight at 9pm.

I have just had a message from an eagle-eyed ebayer pointing out that i have listed the skirt as a french size 38/UK 10 whereas in fact one of the pics shows the label, which states it is a size 36/UK 8.

Obviously have rushed to my computer at top speed to revise the listing and eBay won't let me change anything ? neither the title nor the description - perhaps because it's less than 24hrs before the listing ends?

Any suggestions?!

If you don;t have any bids I think you can pull/cancel the listing and then relist with the edited details. You risk losing any watchers, and will have to pay the listing fee again though.

It won't let me cancel the listing so have added an 'insert' to the description stating that I made a mistake...but the insert comes right at the end so not sure all buyers will see it. Guess if it sells will have to contact the buyer and explain about my mistake. Really annoying as I have 6 watchers boo hoo!!

do you want me to bid really high on it - then when I win it we can mutually cancel and you will get your fees back. Then you can correct it and relist it. Send me pm of the item number if you want.

I had the almost same problem as this midweek, except that I realised that I had uploaded the wrong photo, after receiving a question from a potential buyer. As there was less than 12 hours to go I was unable to revise or add to the listing at all. I ended up cancelling the listing and re-listing later that evening once I had access to the correct photo. If you re-list and it sells you will get the basic listing fee refunded. I was hoping I would re-gain the 6 watchers I had, but I currently have 2 and the auction finishes tomorrow evening. Sad

You are right, it is so close to the end that your watchers may not see the addition to the listing - they may have already set up a sniper to bid for them. Maybe you should take fergoose up on her offer!

I agree really you will be better off doing tgat, anyone that's watching isn't going to want a skirt in a different size.

Fergoose always offers some excellent advice on these ebay threads and If it were me I would take her up on her offer with full confidence.
