Funding PayPal account to make a purchase

I've managed to win an auction for an expensive item, but I don't have enough in my PayPal account. Seller will only take PayPal (fine by me). Is there any way to fund my PayPal account from my bank account other than through the Direct Debit system which is going to take anything up to a week, it seems?

I would try looking on eBay and PayPal, but I find the Help sections of both sites rather, well, unhelpful...

You can link a credit card or debit card to it? I used that for ages before I trusted it enough to give them my bank details.

You just add a credit card and pay via Paypal's website. There is no need to have any money in the actual Paypal account.

You don't have to transfer money to your paypal account, or have a balance on your paypal account - you must have an account linked to it, if you make a purchase via paypal they will deduct the money from the linked bank account

Thanks all, I knew there'd be a way
