Buyer hasn't received my item

I posted an item by 2nd class recorded post on Tues 10th January & my buyer has just emailed me to say that they haven't received it. What should I do? I've been looking on the Royal Mail site. The only value proof I have is the Ebay listing - I don't have a shop receipt. Would that be enough & would I be likely to get my money back?
I've just mailed the buyer & asked her to leave it a few more days & that I'll look into it.

You refund your buyer in full, as you have no postal receipt you have no chance of getting any money back, just put it down to experience thats all you can do.

You can claim from royal mail for the lost item - i thought you just needed to print out the ebay page to show them the value of the item?

I would have thought that what you're entitled to in compensation is what you've lost, so the total amount you have to refund to the buyer is what you should get back from the PO

& yes, your ebay listing inc p&p should show that Smile

Thanks for all your help. I checked with my recorded delivery code on the Royal Mail site & they had tried to deliver to the buyer a week ago & left a card for her to collect it. I've mailed her, so hopefully it'll still be there when she goes to collect it. If they return it to me, I'll be back here asking for more advice!

if you go to paypal and find the buyer's payment you can click on it and add the tracking information now then paypal already have it
