International buyer bought local collection item - help!

A few days ago I sold sth on ebay - it's heavy so was for local collection only. The buyer's address is S Korea!

I emailed them to see if they can collect it - there's a local language school so my faint hope is that one of their students bought it. Have heard nothing.

I can't send an invoice as it needs me to specify postage service, as the buyer's address is in Seoul.

It went for £140, so I don't want to get stung for the £13.99 final sale fee at the end of this month.

The buyer has no feedback. Grrr.

What should I do, oh wise ebay ones?

It could be they are local and haven't updtyed their paypal details

or

you can cost up shipping for the item (what is it or do you not want to say?) and see if they are prepared to pay it

or

you can get them to agree to cancel

SoupDragon · 05/01/2012 12:36

I would cancel it if you specified collection only. Email them.

RidingInTheMidnightBlue · 05/01/2012 12:41

Thanks, will give them a couple of days to reply to my email - I hope they are local. If not, will cancel. Do they have to agree to that? I'm concerned they won't reply to that either.

If they don't pay by day 4 you need to report as a non paying bidder then get your final fees back when you close the case on day 7

then relist and tighten your settings to block international buyers

also collection only you mustn't accept paypal - cash only by the way

RidingInTheMidnightBlue · 05/01/2012 14:37

Thanks - I had already blocked intl buyers, so am extra confused - gives me hope that they're a language student here... Also requested cash on collection, but ebay said I couldn't list without accepting paypal too. Agh, is sth for DH - he can do it himself next time!!

Yes, as long as they arranged it. Have cancelled sale due to buyer not being in one of my countries - will see what happens. Would be more patient, but need item sold in next two weeks!

If they'd replied to my email from a few days ago or had a better (or any!) feedback score, I'd be much more patient.

but if they arrange a courier you wouldn't have the tracking info incase they claim not received so you could lose the item and your money if they pay by paypal

Honeydragon · 05/01/2012 15:50

won't you get more for the item if you do put a price on to post it in the uk? Or is it breakable?

RidingInTheMidnightBlue · 05/01/2012 16:17

It's breakable and v heavy - also going to South Korea, not the UK.
Annoyed as it had 15 watchers and now they'll think it's sold! Oh well, maybe the buyer will come good and be local after all...
