Hi Ladies,

I was wondering if you can help me please. I have recently sold some items on e-bay, one of which was a CD and DVD set. In the description I detailed that the CD had been played once and that the DVD had a few scratches on it.

The buyer has contacted me upon receiving the item and said he is not happy with the state of the DVD, it would cost him £2.00 to get it "shaved" and he would like a partial refund to this amount.

I have said to him the descritpion said the DVD had scratches however if he was not happy he could return to me recorded delivery and I would give him full refund and pay postage costs. He is now saying he can't afford to send it back.

I am unwilling to give a partial refund as I made potential buyers aware of the DVD so what happens now? Can he open a dispute? If he does want to send it back what do I do? Will I get negative feedback?

Have sole quite a few items but never had issues before.
Thanks

Will he give me negative feedback

He is talking absolute bull - what a chancer! I have never come across a seller who would refund before return.

And his your instead of you're is more than enough to get my hackles up!

Don't let one utter berk put you off selling - but do make sure you add him to your blocked bidder list.

so now he has I think 10 days to give proof of return or the case closes! :) I bet he doesn't send it back, and I bet he tries this on with loads of sellers. What is his feedback left for other like - are they all 'damaged' DVDs I wonder which he watched and then tried to return?

Have looked at his feedback and no issues there but then there wouldn't be if people gave into him I suppose as you can't give negative to buyers. I have e-mailed him since sending request for return and said that in accordance with the resolution centre I don't have to give back his postage either (as has previously offered this before) I suppose if i'm going to piss him off I want to do a good job

Interestingly enough I have just had more feedback from stuff I sold at the same time and I am a friendly e-bayer apparently with great items and highly receommended so that's nice.

I know what you mean about your and you're just summed it up really.

Would love to tell you their username but am going to be adult.... just stay away from bidders with the usernae starting with an O that's all I'm going to say.

What about his feedback left for others?

I agree, if you are going to annoy him, make sure you do it properly :)

sparkle101 · 09/09/2011 17:14

sorry about the delay, was hoping to have some news to come back with.

fergoose his feedback left for others is fine, but then I suppose if they rolled over and gave in then he would give them positive, my mum made a valid point, his quote about when I have returned stuff on e-bay before...... make a habit of it? Interesting.

So I spent the last couple of days with butterflies in my stomach waiting to hear back from them but nothing (touch wood) even to the e-mail I sent where I said I wouldn't reimburse postage either. Nowt. Keep checking my feedback though as very nervous, so, I'll just sit, and wait!

I guess your buyer doesn't leave feedback for the sellers he tries this trick on - then his little games are untraceable? I doubt he will leave you any feedback to be honest.

I doubt you will hear from him, or get your item returned. I think he tried to pull a fast one and has failed miserably :)

sparkle101 · 11/09/2011 19:43

Advice needed again please, so no contact from buyer until he left this feedback

Item in very bad condition, dvd doesn't play, not as described! Not happy!

Surely he can't leave negative until case closed? If so what should I reply?

What a _!

bump for help please.....

yes he can leave a neg - whether the case has closed or not

just leave a polite calm response - something like buyer was offered refund on return but refused.

peeriebear · 12/09/2011 21:56

What a cock. I'd go with the same as above, "Buyer was offered a refund on return but refused" though I'd probably say something rude.

sparkle101 · 13/09/2011 21:09

Thanks ladies, I will wait until his time is up for sending it back and then leave that response. Am not bothered now he has issues and needs to get over them, I offered way more than enough and if that isn't enough then not a great deal I can do.

Thanks one and all for your advice, I love mumsnet!
