When is a good time to finish an auction?

I'm an infrequent ebayer and have a load of clothes to sell. I'm assuming an evening finishing slot is preferable to daytime. Are some days better/busier than others when selling? Many thanks.

evening 8.30pm to 9pm I reckon - just make sure you don't clash with EastEnders or something else with a large audience such as X Factor. I try to avoid Sunday nights, I think Mon or Tues is best, gives people chance to find your items in the weekend, watch them then bid on a weeknight when they are more likely to be home and online.

I'd heard that Sunday evening was the best day/time to end auctions - but don't know how true that is

Sunday can be a busy time, but years ago everything used to go very slow on a Sunday probably because of the traffic, and sellers used to avoid auctions ending then. I guess this issue has now been resolved, but I often avoid weekends as that is often the time when people socialise so are less likely to be at home bidding.

I'd say Sunday or Monday evening between 9:00 and 9:30pm and list your items for 10 days starting on a Thursday or Friday if you can, next best is a 7 day listing, starting on the day you want them to end.
