Hello I am a thicko!

I've been buying off ebay for yonks but am about to start selling.

I have items, have photos and I've worked out costs and postage yadda yadda yadda.

I get stumped by the "How to Sell" bit on ebay...it says I have to have a sellers account. Whaaat? My a/c is verified with extra bank cards and credit cards etc...I can't find a button to click that says 'Here press me an lo I will create a sellers a/c for you'.

Am I being spectacularly thick or what?

TIA.

I'm going to have a Brew and calm myself.

is this any more help? pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/checklist.html

sixlostmonkeys · 29/03/2011 15:05

it is a problem when you get sent to other big pages. Maybe open a second window, one with your ebay and teh other with teh help page. follow teh instructions, then when you think you are done. close down and restart.

sixlostmonkeys · 29/03/2011 15:05

and from now on it is cool to type teh instead of the Grin

stylenotfashion · 29/03/2011 15:06

Ok, on that page for example I click on 2. Sign up to accept Paypal . The page just jumps downwards a bit...and nothing happens.

I mean, am I already signed up to receive paypal if my a/c is already verified etc?

I really am sounding thick, sorry.

OMG FFS I'm going to scream!!!!!!!!!!!!

That link doesn't apply if I haven't registered as a seller and I still can't find the link to register as a seller.

I'm a grown woman with a fecking degree FFS!!!!!!!!!

I'm going round in circles.

To create a sellers account I need to (1) choose how to pay my sellers fees

To choose how to pay my sellers fees by paypal I have to be a registered seller.

Really fecking angry now.

Clear your cookies and cache.

Link your PayPal account to your eBay Account.

Then click the Sell Tab at the top of the screen.

Choose to pay your sellers fees via PayPal.

ihearttc · 29/03/2011 20:53

If it's any consolation Im having a similar problem...apart from the fact that Im already a seller and have been for about 6 years. Every single time I go on to sell something it just asks for my user id and password so I duly put them in as normal and then it just throws me back to the same page again.

I have screamed several times over the last few days as I have loads of DS's summer clothes to sell and could do with the cash to buy some more lol!

I e-mailed customer support and they basically said the same as Fabbychic...to clear cookies/cache but Ive done that with no luck!

Sorry no help at all but I feel your pain!!

MadameOvary · 29/03/2011 20:57

Oh the repeated requested for username and password makes me so Angry
Sorry if this has been mentioned but you need to close all your browser windows as well. Good luck!

stylenotfashion · 29/03/2011 21:00

I did it!

I went into kitchen, calmed self with Wine and rebooted the laptop.

Am now a seller! Woop!

Still very cross with ebay for making me feel so utterly incompetent earlier mind.

Well done! Enjoy your wine (and spoils once they come) Grin

stylenotfashion · 29/03/2011 21:04

Thinking about it, I didn't go via the help pages...I started by clicking on SELL at the top of my screen, next to My Ebay tab. I listed my item and only then did it ask me to register as a seller etc...and linked my Paypal. Seems backwards to ask you to type up a listing first, and nowhere did it say to do that in the Help pages.

stylenotfashion · 29/03/2011 21:06

Fabby I have no idea what cookies and cache are. Sounds like a 70's cop drama.

I've had enough brain-melting for tonight though!

That can be wednesdays enraging lesson!

OP posts:
ihearttc · 30/03/2011 13:05

Am really glad you managed to sort it!!

MadameOvary-I take it thats happened to you as well? I have cleared all cookies etc and have got no browser windows open either but the damn thing still won't let me list!

Any other suggestions anyone before I throw the computer out of the window!!

We've got a new computer about 4 months ago and Ive had problems ever since but I have actually been able to list things eventually before...this time it's not letting me at all!

stylenotfashion · 30/03/2011 14:26

Type what buttons you're clicking in, exactly, and I'll see of they match what I did. I listed quite a lot more this morning, though I had to use Firefox as my internet as ebay wasn't recognising Internet Explorer for some unknown reason.
Maybe try doing it on firefox and see if that solves it?
