Argh... annoying buyer

It's always the 99p items that cause hassle...

I listed loads of items on last free listing weekend. Site going so slowly that it didn't display the pics afterwards. Sold a bunch of books.

One of them, I had the wrong picture for, as should have been obvious by the different title and description and the same picture being on the listing above.

So I get a really snotty message from the buyer saying they only looked at the picture and shouldn't be expected to read the title and are dumping the item ASAP.

I respond most politely apologising, explaining the item has been sold to someone else, offering full refund, and ask them to return the book, and will paypal to cover the return postage.

Buyer responds to say OK, but will throw item away anyway.

Do I have any comeback on this? Can I say I'll give full refund only on return of the wrong item?

[grr...why do I bother selling 99p items...]

they should return in order to receive a refund. You have been very good in your response to them. It sounds like they aren't going to cooperate so I'd be tempted to just refund if only for the sake of avoiding bad marks against your name.

wonder why they are buying a book when they can't be bothered to read?!

To be honest you should just refund. You made the mistake not them and for some people getting to the post office is a nightmare and even if its just an inconvenience

Have refunded. It's the refusing to just lob it into a postbox and now insisting it'll either go to a charity shop or to another 'good home' that's getting on my wick!

I know its a pain but, they really should get a proof of posting and that can be a whole lunch hour in some Po and not all sellers would refund their return postage even if they say they would. I have had to refund a few times like this ;(
