Non contact from new Ebay members - why?

Have been refurbishing furniture and selling on Ebay on and off since 2008 with never any problems ever......until now. The winning bidder has not achieved any feedback yet and I have had no contact from her. Normal routine on selling an item I invoice and send contact email straight away (even if made a thumping loss which always hurts!!!) as all bits need to be collected due to size. Within a couple of days buyers have usually made some sort of contact. This time nothing, diddly squat, zilch. Phoned number posted on order details and it doesn't belong to name and address and is nowhere near location posted sooooooo feel something's amiss. Spoke to Ebay who advised opening unpaid case which have done.

Question is however, why do people do this? Any ideas? Have often seen listings stating that folk with less than 5 feedbacks need not bid or ring before bidding but have never understood why - can anybody enlighten me?

Surely dishonest people don't play do they? Shock

auction wrecking, had too many sherries, bit dim, don't think twice about messing people about...... many many reasons.
The best I've heard is the people who join ebay and bid thinking it's a game. Then when they get chased for money they are shocked "Oh! You mean all this is real?" This happened quite a bit in the early days. Ah, those were the days....

Do you mean that they set up accounts and use them just for fun even though when they bid they've entered into a legally binding contract? ShockShock

How do you list a service on eBay when they no longer allow services to be advertised?
