Does anyone else feel as if they are constantly being ripped off?

I?m really getting fed up with eBay both as a buyer and as a seller. I have only ever had a handful of people claim lost in post but it has always been for the more costly stuff and never the 99p items.

I have also never had anything I have bought get lost in the post. I have recently also had quite a few non payers and people wanting not to use pay pal which is really beginning to irritate me.

And as a buyer the last two baby toys I have bought haven?t worked and I think people do this because they know you will have to go through the expense of sending it back, so they think that they can get away with it.

To me this all feels like a recent thing on there, like people are just trying to scam you as much as they possibly can.

Does anyone else feel this way? Does anyone else use a different site?

tbh i am getting a bit fed up of it too. Just so many people taking the piss recently.

mrsissue · 06/11/2010 08:54

I'm thinking of using netmums now because they have add it bit on the nearly new boards so you can add photos and as they buyer have to come and get the stuff from you themselves i'm begining to think this will be safer.

I stopped using eBay in March due to a huge hassle with a buyer that turned into the final straw. Someone who paid late then complained that their items hadn't arrived and wanted a refund - in the end I refunded, but I suspect the package arrived.

Not to mention the hassle I had from a bidder who complained I hadn't left feedback for previous auctions, so they wouldn't pay me until I'd sent the item...Hmm.

Over the 5 years that I used eBay I lost count of the number of little issues that really just meant people were trying it on. That doesn't include the items bought that weren't as described but which were too much of a pain to return.

I've been using the NCT nearly new sales to sell baby items, and I'll be advertising in the supermarket/newsagent to sell the bigger bits and pieces.

I love eBay, just sounds like you been unlucky.

I picked up a chaise lounge today for £6.43!

I have only had 2 or 3 problems as a seller and always offer a full refund for change of mind purchases upon return, refunding in full even their postage costs.

I refund automatically after ten days if an item has not arrived. One of those things, win some lose some.

CoffinGoneColdAgain · 06/11/2010 18:13

As a seller I am getting more and more frustrated by people bidding during the last few seconds and not paying for days. It really infuriates me! It just means more trips to the post office as you can't make those who do pay pretty much straight away wait just because of the few who keep you hanging around!

mrsissue · 06/11/2010 18:36

I agree that happens all the bloody time!

CoffinGoneColdAgain · 06/11/2010 18:41

Doesn't it just, I did mean to add that when I buy anything I always pay straight away. I have sent one invoice 6/7 hrs after and still waiting 2 days later.grrr!

mrsissue · 06/11/2010 18:46

i can beat that, someone hs just paid after weeks. i to alway right away. I am not selling any more on there I have had enough.

OP posts:
mrsissue · 06/11/2010 18:47

Come to think of it, we've had a few 'lost' items we've sent recently. I assumed it was just because we are sending more stuff.

Really, if you have proof of postage with their postcode written on, and they didn't pay for it to go recorded, you can hardly be blamed. What happens in that situation? (DH deals with all the listings and agro, I just do the post office runs!)

mrsissue · 06/11/2010 19:09

I think people just don?t understand or don?t care that they are stealing from people just like them. I don?t think they get that we are not multi-national corporations just people trying to make a little cash or even save a little cash by getting something second hand. I really have had a guts full and I?m only going to sell on netmums and free ads and not buy anything electrical. I even joined a ebay and pay pal are shit group on fb, sad I know.

CoffinGoneColdAgain · 06/11/2010 19:33

Laugs, I factor the extra 74p (ish) that it costs to send it recorded delivery onto the P&p. I refuse to get scammed by these pillocks anymore! If you only have proof of postage they will win hands down eveytime when they claim, although I think ebay no keeps a check on peoples claims! I have had to claim once for a pair of dungarees and top that never arrived, if i'd paid 99p i'd probably not be so bothered but it was £12!
Mrs I i will have a look at that on Fb, sounds a good place to vent, not that it'd do any good. wonder if we can name and shame haha!

mrsissue · 06/11/2010 19:41

I literally have two cases at the moment I bought a vibrating bouncy chair, that doesn?t vibrate and the seller will refund if I return the item but its not worth it because the return P&P is to high and I have a thing where someone has charged back for some baby grows.

The bouncy chair person hasn?t left me feedback yet but I have just left them negative feedback, so I?m sure they will try the same for me, even though they not allowed to. I also think I have lost the baby grow money as well because there is nothing I can do to get that back. I?m so fed up of it. Thieving scum!

OP posts:
CoffinGoneColdAgain · 06/11/2010 20:55

How have they done charge back, thru Pp or bank? That is strange, I would be getting on to ebay and ask them what the hell is going on! The seller 'should' pay for the return of the unvibrating vibrating bouncy chair if they are a decent ebayer, but maybe they wont now you have left feedback lol, Tbh I'm fed up with it now and might just stick to selling in my local newspaper.

mrsissue · 07/11/2010 13:16

The chargeback thing is a bounced payment. But here I have brilliant one, the buyer of the bouncy chair wouldn?t refund unless I returned the chair but it obviously wasn?t worth the P&P and she knew it, so I left negative feedback. She has just retaliated by leaving me negative feedback in the positive feedback because buyer aren?t allowed to do that. I laughed very hard and then reported her but I?m so pissed off with the cheekyness of it all! she sells a piece of crap and even if she really does believe it works she could have read my feedback left for others and seen that I wasn?t trying it on because I have never left negative feedback for anyone. Anyway like I said thieving scum.

OP posts:
CoffinGoneColdAgain · 07/11/2010 13:34

I just don't get this bounced payment malarky, it stinks! Omg how cheeky is she? at least your buyers will see that she is just trying it on. Still no payment, can do 2nd chance offer but not sure if I can do this until after I open a npb!

mrsissue · 07/11/2010 14:06

i dont know why i kept calling her the buyer, she was the seller and i bought the bloody, broken bouncer! thats how pissed off its made me, i'm writing like an fool ;)

OP posts:
classydiva · 07/11/2010 19:32

mrissue did you request the feedback be removed cos a false positive can be.

CoffinGoneColdAgain · 07/11/2010 20:23

She is obviously a pita MrsI! As Classy says, ebay should remove a fp! Still no payment at my end, really have had enough now, ffs why bother bidding at last minute and then not pay. Just looked at her Fb and she has bought and paid for something today as they have left her Fb, effin hell I am so cross!

classydiva · 07/11/2010 21:33

Some people are just ignorant and rude! No reason for it at all. Why bid if you are not going to pay - pointless.

mrsissue · 10/11/2010 21:00

Sorry for the late replies. I really don?t understand non payers, I jut don?t get what they?re thinking. I did report her and they removed it but ebay leave a comment saying this comment has been removed. Pay pal gave me my money back for that chargeback, which was good.

i have a lady who purchased something from me which i sent on the 6th october she sent a email 3 days later wanting a refund as it hadn't arrived [1st class standard delivery so 6-7 working days]
recieved a message today asking for refund as still not recieved it.looked into it and she has gone over the 45 days she had to make a claim.i've e mailed ebay about it
makes me angry i always get proof of posting but this is the 4th time in the last month that people have said they've not recieved an item.
i only post within uk but someone bid and won who lived in germany so i explained i don't post outside uk but would as a one off guess what they've not recieved the item so had to refund Angry
from now on recorded delivery only

mrsissue · 26/11/2010 20:34

see its bloody constant

OP posts:
dikkertjedap · 27/11/2010 21:15

how interesting, I also have people claiming that they haven't received the items. Yes, always the more expensive items. So I keep having to refund plus I lose the post and packaging on top and the item gone of course. I thought I was just unlucky. Not sure about only sending insured because I expect that you will get fewer bidders because higher P&P???? I am also peeved by how much money paypal and ebay take, some months I barely break even for all the work I do, just because missing items and high fees.
