Refunds of postage - Are they compulsory?

I recently purchased a top which was damaged, I paid £2.25 postage.
I contacted the seller who told me to return it second class which I did at a cost of £1.95.
They have refunded the cost of the top but no postage at all, which I feel is unfair, as they should at least reimburse me what I paid to return it. What is the correct procedure for this? Thanks.

they should pay you the full amount paid. if they refuse you can still open a dispute for the outstanding amount.
as it was damaged they should have refunded your return postage, a good seller would have, but unfortunately you can't force them.
They were being a bit crafty telling you to return it 2nd class rather than recorded. I would still open that dispute though if they refuse to refund you.
depending on what they do after you contact them I'd 'consider' what FB you will be leaving. Don't mention FB in your messages though

I usually would ask for a refund of the original postage I paid for delivery (we can't dispute what that amount was, you see). Sellers have always obliged so far.

Thanks, I have sent a polite email requesting the original postage and suggested I will take it further if they don't. I have proof of postage too.
I haven't left feedback yet :)

I'd give seller a few more days (until Weds am) to reply.
Paypal dispute resolution process is actually utterly pants ime, but may be your last resort.

You having the option of neg. feedback is a huge hidden leverage, seller is an idiot to ignore it. I'd be jumping thru hoops to keep you happy if you were my customer.
