Is it against Ebay rules to list as free postage but ask for postage in the description on capped postage items?

Last week my partner used my ebay for the 1st time ever and found 2 dvd collections he liked with free P&P to the uk and as they were in the last seconds he bid quickly without reading the description Hmm

He paid straight away and was very chuffed to get a good deal until 20 mns later when we received a message saying "you have won 2 of my items but forgot to wait for the invoice so i could add the postage can you send £6 (£3 each item) to this email ..... via paypal"

I asked about it on the community board and got a few replys saying not to pay it as it is against the rules so i didnt and sent a message saying that it is against the rules to ask for postage on items listed as free to which he replied saying that he would not be sending them until it is paid.

I tried to open a dispute but it said it was too early so i sent an email to ebay to ask about the rules and what should i do only i havent't had a reply yet.

He has now refunded my money (last night) and has relisted them again with free postage but asking for it in the description and he sent me a rude message basically calling me a liar and said that it is not a rule only a guideline and im the only one that has had a problem with him and therefore i am a scammer and just out to steal off people Angry

yes, it is against the rules.
You c an report the listing.
are you able to leave feedback? if you are I'd recommend that you do because it is sellers like this that put people off buying on ebay and spoil it for the good sellers.

I think i can still leave him feedback but in my bought/won items it says money refunded and pay now and i dont know how to remove them also if i leave him bad feedback could he also leave me bad feedback?

I've been on ebay for years but only started using it properly about a year ago and have 100% feedback, i've never had a negitive or neutral before and have never had to complain, return or get a refund before.

Yr not allowed to add after. Like VAT I got told off for listing an auction on some machinery - I put plus VAT. My item got pulled.

Very naughty!

ignor the bit where it says pay now.

sellers can't leave negs or neuts for buyers

LoveBeing · 16/09/2010 15:53

You can leave him neg feedbac he canot leave you neg feedback. Keep it factual and he cannot get it removed, ie "was asking for extra money for postage when item had said free postage" , Ebay will not remove it. If you want to you can report his current listings.

I have reported him for seller non performance and have left him neg feedback
