Has anyone had experience with CAMHS prescribing 0.5 mg olanzapine for their 14-year-old daughter who has anorexia? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and whether it helped with food-related thoughts and anxiety.

Hi Patear. My DD is on 2.5mg. we think we saw a difference but she says it hasn't helped and just made her tired. She has only said this after restoring weight though and then again after getting her period.

DD1 had olanzapine and it turned things around for her. She was a bit atypical though.

My friend's daughter took it and it really helped.

Are you sure 0.5mg? Not 5mg?

0.5 would be tiny.

But yes, we often prescribe this because of the appetite stimulating properties, rather than as an antipsychotic. Mirtazepine is another one we often go for

Sorry typo error it is 5mg
she was before 2.50mg but didn’t work for her now dose gone higher to 5mg
hooe that’s help her
