Fussy eater?

My 9 year old has started to say she doesn't want her food at meal times, even though she says she is hungry. Could it be fussiness or something else? Anyone experienced this?

Does she have any access to the internet?

ThatLilacTurtle · 23/11/2025 17:54

She has a 20 minute daily limit on YouTube, has age restrictions. She does play a lot of fashion games

Why does she say she doesn’t want it?

ThatLilacTurtle · 23/11/2025 17:59

She just says she is not hungry as soon as she sees the food, will have a couple of mouthfuls at the most

Is she losing weight or eating elsewhere?

ThatLilacTurtle · 23/11/2025 18:34

She doesn't seem to be losing any weight, as yet. She has only been quite thin. I think I will give it another day, see how she is at school tomorrow and take her to the doctor's if no better

We had a very similar situation with my daughter. It turned out to be a texture thing. Give her stew and she would starve herself. Noodles or rice and she would devour it!

Well she is off the foods that she always eats, maybe she is bored of the same thing but she won't try anything new either

Is anything else going on? Fall puts at school? Not liking the new Teacher?

ThatLilacTurtle · 23/11/2025 19:50

I have asked her but she said no. She did say that she sometimes feels sick before school, so I thought maybe something was happening. I will speak with her teacher and take it from there.
Thanks for your advice 😊

Could it be anxiety? It sounds likely, especially if she’s feeling sick before school.
