Gastric sleeve

Hi all. I have an eating disorder. I binge eat to excess. Nothing triggers it, I do it for unknown reasons.
Has anyone had a gastric sleeve done? On the NHS? Privately? Abroad?
I constantly try to diet, but then binge on an evening.
I've started C25K but it does hurt my knees.
I dont think I will be here in 10 years if I don't get my life in check. Its just so hard. I know surgery is a tool to use in your journey but that's what I need. You wouldn't dig a hole without a spade.
Just looking for advice and pros and cons

Thanks

I have had a gastric sleeve. I would say it won't stop you from binge eating (the compulsion) but it will stop you from eating physically in the beginning as you literally cannot stomach anything other than fluid a few weeks after surgery. After a month or so you can introduce textures and solid foods.

My experience is that I can eat the same food as before (I'm more sensitive to foods high in sugar or fat now) but in much smaller quantities. If I eat more than my stomach can handle, I'll be sick.

It's entirely possible to gain weight after a sleeve as you can eat high calorie foods in smaller and more frequent quantities. However, I would try and work on your binge eating triggers first before attempting surgery.

DS has one, he had a severe eating disorder. He got to 36 stone. He’s really happy with it.
He had it done privately and found both before and aftercare to be very good.
