What do I ask for? Who to see? What should I do?

DD is growing (13) and losing weight as she's getting taller and not eating enough to maintain her weight. She is rake thin.
She thinks she's fat (& ugly), she's trying to 'feed' everyone in the family. I've talked to her numerous times and am getting nowhere, I now sit with her and eat with her at all meals or snack times in the day. Sadly she just can't see that she is beautiful and that she is far from fat - she is underweight.

I have a GP appointment tomorrow. What should I be asking for and who should I request to see? (we are London based)
I can use insurance if that makes it easier to get treatment. I just don't know anything about this and would love a little guidance.

Hi, I've pm'd you, but this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/eating_disorders/4016379-teen-eating-issues-support-thread might be helpful to you.

What a worry Op . I would just tell the gp what you have said here . Hopefully it’s not gone too far and your dd can get back to eating normally xx

Talk to the GP first.

You may find it helpful to read this before you go. BEAT

My DD is slightly older - she went to the GP herself. She was referred to CAMHS but so far has had no contact from them (referral 4 months ago). Services are under a lot of strain at the moment.

We have gone down the private healthcare route and DD has now been seen by an ED specialist. But we don't know how many sessions insurance will cover - so far they are only approving a few at a time.

Many thanks everyone! Fingers crossed the GP has some good guidance for us.

I hope your appointment went well.
I'm in a similar position with my DD (12). She is hardly eating and is stick thin, she's got low iron and is showing symptoms now (lethargic, headaches, dizziness).
The GP told me to put her on multivitamins and iron, but she's not any better, on fact she's hardly eating anything now.
It's very worrying.
