NC for this one. We moved to Wales back in the 70s and I spent my teens there before moving away for college. Parents still living there and Wales still feels like home to me. I knew nothing about rugby before moving to Wales and grew to love it while there. Joined Welsh club as an adult (supporting not playing).

I have only ever supported the Welsh rugby team, despite the lean years of the 80s/90s. As Wales gave me my love of the game and we were living there it seemed wrong to support England and once I moved away it seemed all kinds of wrong to support England.

A family member (not in Wales) finds it wrong that my parents and I all support Wales. Who do you think is right? Should I abandon almost 50 yrs of supporting Wales and try to get on board with Team England?

Support who you like, it's none of their business.

To me, there is no difference than if you had spent your teens in Manchester, and now lived elsewhere but still supported Manchester United.

Many years ago I thought people only supported a football team if they lived in the area of that team!
I now know differently and you can support whatever team you want to.

I know several people who support Liverpool or Man Utd etc. I've never understood why when they have no links whatsoever to the area or the teams.

My lads have lived and worked on most continents, they took their Welsh flag's kits. No matter where they were if the rugby was on they found a club, pub, hotel showing the match and bumped into other dragons. You crack on @Isthisreasonable

My BIL is not Welsh, has never lived in Wales, but does have some Welsh cousins. He supports Wales🤔

DH supports France, after they played an amazing 5 Nations season (as it was then) in about 1998. We are not French. We do not speak French. I have never known DH even visit france (he did as a child, but not in the last 30 years).

You are totally fine to support Wales 🤣

Out of interest would you seek advice from this person on any other topic?

(I think you support Wales. Nothing wrong with it at all)

I think it's only natural to support the country you spent most of your life in. My aunts who went to England over 50 years ago supports England in the rugby, all of us still in Ireland, supports Ireland obviously. A bit of slagging goes on but it's all in fun.

Don't be daft. 🙂

Perhaps your relative thinks England needs all the support they can get? 😁
