Hi my name is Jess and I have been on the journey to motherhood since last year January. I had my initial scan with abc fertility and discovered I had an Amh of 78 and my ovaries were polycystic so that changed things a bit. I decided to do IVF once I had my donor sperm picked out. I decided to go to Mexico since costs are low and they allow gender choice and also the transfer of two embryos. My egg retrieval was successful and I have 6 embryos frozen 5 boys 1 girl. I am hoping to transfer 1 boy one girl. I’m just gearing up for the transfer in early October.

There is a good Facebook group, Solo Mothers by Choice UK.

When I was a member of the Donor Conception Network Charity a few years ago, they used to send out regular emails advising on in-person area meet-ups every few months eg. London SMBC, North West SMBC etc. I think there were also some Zoom groups too. Might be worth contacting them to see if they still do this?

Another possibility is once you have had your DC, sometimes it is possible to make contact with other parents who have had DC using the same donor, via the Sperm bank or Facebook groups (I am in contact online with about a dozen of my child’s diblings mums - nearly all are SMBC too). This is more likely if you have used an international sperm bank though, as obviously the donor is not limited to 10 families like in the UK (so statistically you are more likely to find some of the other parents open to contact).
