Anyone starting the journey for a second DE baby

Firstly I hope this thread doesn’t sound insensitive to those still in the process of trying for their first DE baby - I was in that place for a number of years.

I thought it would be helpful to create a thread for anyone thinking about whether to go for DE baby number two / in the process of trying. Just a hand hold really. I’m currently at the early stages as need a hysteroscopy this month due to changes since DD’s birth and am also feeling like my age is now more of a factor. Looking forward to hearing from anyone in a similar situation.

Equally if anyone is starting a cycle for a first DC baby and wants general support and someone to chat with, do join too .

Hi everyone! I have just come across this thread and would like to join. I’m just waiting to see if I can start my first DE cycle this month or next. I already have one 2.5 year old DD after 3 cycles of IVF with my own eggs but decided to try DE this time as I’m almost 44. It will be our only chance of a 2nd child as won’t be able to afford more cycles.

@wishIwasonholiday10 Hello! Hope your preparations for DE are going well. I also have a daughter who is 2.5. I have my baseline scan on Friday - I’m pleased and scared to get going again!

@GreyGoose1980 we changed the clinic and I was matched with a donor immediately 🤨🤓.
we are going next week to give a sperm and fertilisation will start.
waiting for my period to come but as it’s not regular, no idea when to expect them - hopefully soon as I had kind of cramps.

welcome @wishIwasonholiday10 (I too wish I was on holoday) - what are your next steps? Are you with a clinic in the UK?

Yes, I’m with a UK clinic but they partner with Ovobank In Argentina. Our donor eggs have arrived in the UK and the clinic have said we can get going straight away if the medication arrives in time (my period is due anytime so touch and go). If we don’t get in this cycle we may have to wait until after Xmas as the clinic has a cutoff.

How are you ladies doing? @GreyGoose1980 how is your treatment going? Have you had your transfer yet?

I had forgotten how horribly anxious the first trimester was. I am 6 weeks tomorrow and waiting on a scan. My beta bloods were good though - 788 on 13dp5dt and 1700 two days later so rising appropriately.

The part that is worrying me massively is the two light bleeds I've had - one after sex and one after a bowel movement. Both tailed off after a few hours and had no cramping or clots, but it was red blood which was awful to see. Having googled (FFS) I think it's probably cervical irritation or ectropion but my scan isn't until the 25th of November so I feel totally in limbo.

I did throw up this morning though! It's just such a rollercoaster.

I am going through a rollercoaster.. in summer we decided that's it but haven't stopped trying naturally and I fell pregnant. Unfortunately on my 8w scan mmc was confirmed, and I had a surgery two weeks ago. My DH though agreed to re-open the discussion, we also have a counsellor booked for December. I know it is not a yes, but still gives me a hope ... xx

We changed the Clinics, so we had a new donor. We’ve got 3 blastocysts frozen. From previous clinic we got only 1.
I’m on some medication and will wait for period to come.
We had a therapy session few months ago, but it didn’t have any impact on me. I was so strongly minded that I want to try this DE journey.
I hope your session @TT82 will go well. I know it’s hard to stop. It’s always good have a hope..

@TT82 I’m very sorry for your recent loss. I hope your session helps you both move forward.

I hope your scan went well , the first six weeks are so tough.

All is progressing for us and my transfer is Monday! Am nervous but pleased to have finally got to this point. Xx

I am on my Estrofem medicine for now, having my checkup scan in a week. So hard to stay positive…

Thanks guys! Was 7w4d yesterday for the scan, baby measuring 7w3d and strong heartbeat. The relief! I know we still have a very long way to go but this felt like a big milestone xx
