What happens if clinic is closed on best ovulation day?

Sorry to have to ask this here but the clinic I am being seen by has passed me around different phone lines all day and is now closed. Can’t seem to get anyone to answer a simple question.

I am booked in for natural IUI next cycle but according to apps (I know not accurate) I would be due to be most fertile on a Sunday, the only day they aren’t open.

What normally happens in these cases? I don’t want to lose this funded cycle by pulling out part way through if they’re going to try on a less fertile day and just hope for the best, but I can’t find out any information in advance because no one will talk to me and my nurse contact is off sick.

@Alysskea This may not be the right board. You do need to insist on speaking to someone at your clinic or going in person as they need to reassure you about this and they have more accurate information on your cycle. Be a bit pushy I'm afraid. Which clinic is it?

Do try posting on this board as it has people who are currently cycling using IUI and who may be able to help.

Lots of luck,

I have heard if a doctor going to work on his day off for this reason but no idea if your clinic does that. The only person who can tell you is the clinic. If they aren’t picking up phone or answering emails maybe pop in if it’s not too far?

The clinics we used were open every day. I had treatment every day it was needed. They try to coast you past Sunday but if it's a Sunday, they do Sunday.

I remember this being an issue when I was trying to conceive and I remember factoring it into my choice of clinic. I didn't want to pay thousands of pounds to maximise my chances if the clinic couldn't even be arsed to go in on the day that would give me the best chance.

At my clinic they do frequent scans, and if it looks like you are going to ovulate on a Sunday, they will give you a trigger shot so that you ovulate a day early and do the procedure on the Saturday.

The alternative is abandoning the cycle which costs money if not funded.

With natural, if your clinic is closed, you’re down to two options.

Delay the cycle (awful) or go with the day before. I wouldn’t go the day after in case you have ready ovulated, but sperm can last.

Neither are ideal.

This sounds helpful and thought I might ask them about that when I see them tomorrow - I don’t mind taking the shot.
