LWC with DE

Hi ladies, after a failed IVF cycle at LWC with my OE I feel ready to go ahead with DE. I have chosen a donor with a proven track record and with very similar looks to mine and I'm excited about the next steps, however when I look for DE information/stories I usually find people that has either done it abroad or used egg share or fresh donors. Is there anyone here that has used frozen eggs from the London Egg Bank that wouldn't mind share their experience? I'm so excited and nervous, just doesn't want to feel like I'm the only one going on this path 🥺. TIA x

Hello ladies, I would like to get your advice. I see that Donor Conception doesn’t have the same engagement as the Infertility one but whenever I ask about egg donation there I get very little feedback as most ladies I presume go through their own eggs.
I am looking into LWC and Create as these are the only ones I had initial appointment with. I recently watched a Reprofit (Czech) online presentation and they mentioned in order to really ensure success and get 2 top quality embryos they would advise 8-12 eggs min ( fresh). In the uk I see 6 are min and mostly frozen so I am confused now as it’s very expensive if we need to double the treatment due to wrong initial choice. Would you be able to share your advice/experience?

I felt quite strongly that I wanted my child to have access to details of the donor should they so wish and that is why I chose to go with LWC in the UK as no anonymity for donors here. Although having said that I have heard great things about clinics abroad.
Obviously I got lucky first time, but had I not, I had nothing to freeze. So maybe if I had more eggs to begin with I may have had some in the freezer for another shot. I might not though! But yes, more eggs is more opportunities I suppose.

Thank you @Paulinefowler we have decided to stay in the UK as we want our child to be able to access information or even the donor in the future. It took us a while to research it all and think through but now we are confident. We will be going with LWC for the same reasons you mentioned .

Paulinefowler · 11/05/2020 09:41

Fantastic! Hope all this is sorted soon so you can get on with your treatment ASAP x

Leala20 · 16/05/2020 13:51

Thank you @Paulinefowler we have decided to go for 10 eggs to have more options in case first cycle isn’t successful as I have never fallen pregnant over years of ttc so looking forward to this.

Hi @Leala20
I hope all goes really well for you. I’m also thinking of LWC for DE. Please can you advise if the 10 eggs were fresh or frozen? TIA.

Leala20 · 17/05/2020 22:51

@greygoose1980
LWC works with London Egg Bank and they have a database of frozen eggs so there’s no waiting. There’s an online catalogue with non-identifying information so you can browse. I heard that the frozen have already gone through ‘selection’ so are meant to be quality eggs. You can contact the clinic and send them your photo and they can also suggest a match do you can cross check what you and your partner found.

Leala20 · 09/06/2020 21:35

@GreyGoose1980 how are you and have you looked into LWC? We hope to be starting end of summer/early autumn. Must say that choosing a donor has been challenging, the more you know the more difficult it is I found!

Pleaseletitbeme · 19/07/2020 13:57

Guys, how much does this all cost?
It’s now my only option. However, I’m thinking of going abroad as the cost looks circa 7000 euro.

Leala20 · 19/07/2020 15:41

@Pleaseletitbeme you can choose 6 or 10 eggs and with one cycle treatment it’s about 10-12K. There’s guaranteed cycle plans available through access fertility I think it is called. Different countries have different laws governing donated eggs and embryos (or nine) so this is also worth exploring while making a decision.

Pleaseletitbeme · 19/07/2020 15:46

Leala thank you.

GreyGoose1980 · 22/07/2020 08:38

Hi @Leala20
Sorry for delayed reply. I stepped away from the DC board as was focusing on a final transfer with OE which I had this month. Sadly but not surprisingly it was a BFN.

I’m now definitely proceeding with DE and need to finalise a clinic. I saw on another thread that you have started your DE cycle. Thinking of you!
