Really worried about how to afford it

How do others afford this? Smile

I can stretch to IVF with donor sperm, but if I need multiple attempts ...

Then maternity leave, nursery or childminder ...

Is there something I am missing?

It is not easy!!

Have you considered egg sharing? You get your treatment for free if you agree to share your eggs with another family who need a donor.

I think when it comes to childcare, everyone is different. Some people have family who can help. Some save up for years before so they having savings they can use (we did this!). Some give up work/go part time because it actually works out as a better financial decision when childcare is factored in. Some clinics do a guarantee scheme. There are lots of options, no one size fits all! :)

It's expensive, even with a partner. Bringing up kids is not easy either - I have friends who are already saving for university fees for their toddlers... Budgeting is impirtant

Do try IUI first as it's cheaper and less medicalised. Homerton hospital in London will treat you on NHS you just pay for sperm. Or I went to Denmark which worked out about the same as Homerton including the travel costs.

Hello

I am about to go for a consultation at UCLH, they do a IUI package £2k for 3 cycles. I don't think that would even pay for 1 IVF cycle. The donor sperm on top though is a killer ! We are looking at European sperm bank at 639 euros a straw plus 295 despatch plus a 500 euro pregnancy slot fee (refunded if you don't get pregnant).

Do you need IVF or could you try IUI first?
