HSG test.... getting anxious

Hi,
I'm booked in for an HSG in a couple of weeks time and I'm already starting to worry.

I find smear tests very uncomfortable , it's the speculum that I find painful. I know they will have to insert a speculum , but does it stay in place for the whole proceedure?
I know it's a test I've got to have but I'm dreading it. ....

Not so good news for me, I think we have either missed ovulation somehow or I haven't had an LH surge ConfusedHmmSad all OPK's have been negative for a week.

Sorry to hear that this month's cycle isn't going as planned...

Have the clinic not been scanning you every few days since your period ended? That's how it went for my wife first time round...

I went in last Wednesday for one, there was a dominant follicle and everything was fine/going as planned. So the nurse said she's happy not to see us again as I was doing it naturally (without the trigger shot). So we just got told to track at home and call when we detected a surge. We have been using clearblue digital sticks, I used them last month and got the smile but this month nothing Angry

Ah I see. Hopefully the next month will be the month. Disappointing though I'm sure x

Has the HSG today. It was fine! Not even as bad as my smear tests. Feel a bit silly for getting so worked up! Everything is fine too. Xx

I've had a crazy morning, after trying to get over the fact that we had missed this month i decided to test again this morning as there were 3 sticks left in pack and got a smile!! Smile could not believe it! So I am now booked in for tomorrow morning for IUI...crazy!

Just been and done it! Crazy times, hopefully all goes well 😀 what's your next stage? Do you have to go in for the follow up consultation now?

We have to do the counselling again , bit daft really as we did it together first time round but as I'm a different patient we have to do it again. I also need to have an AMH (?) Blood test to check my egg reserves. The HSG showed that my tubes were clear and womb looks fine too. But my left ovary is higher up than the average person so he couldnt get a good look at it. I'm also working on getting BMI down too to help my chances. I think we will aim to get trying on the new year xx

That's great though, new year will be here before you know it! Annoying that you have to go through counselling again Hmmridiculous really but hey ho!
