Bare with me on this lol
I'm 28. Healthy, non smoker, non drinker. I have a 9 year old daughter who is also very healthy. However after a d&c a couple of years ago, my uterus was damaged. I now have scar tissue so I am infertile as no embryo is able to implant and if it did, it would not be for long. Obviously this came as a shock and I was devastated by the idea of never being able to have another baby. But it got me thinking. There is nothing wrong with my actual reproductive system. I still ovulate regularly and my eggs are perfectly fine, it's just that they either can't be fertilised due to scar tissue blocking the path or if they're fertilised there's nowhere for them to stick to. Basically they're useless to me but they could help someone else.
I have been in touch with a clinic as despite being healthy myself, I do have type 1 diabetes that runs in my family (my grandad and auntie have it) but they've said that donating shouldn't be a problem due to it being a couple of generations behind me. I am aware that hereditary diseases can skip generations but I'm trusting what they say at the minute lol
I just wondered if anyone had been an egg donor and what the experience was like? I know there's lots of medication and hormone injections involved but honestly, I've been through worse. Plus it would make me so so happy to know that a couple out there could be given some good news after knowing myself the heartache of being told you won't be having any more children. Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated :)
