How long to reach top of the band?

I've just been offered an NHS position. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to reach the top of a band.

I'll be starting on a band 7 and there's 3 increment points. Is it a point each year?
My dp is band 4 and he seems to think that's band 7s.take much longer to move up the scale.

I'm in Scotland so I believe the pay scaling works slightly differently here.

Also any tips and advice for someone moving into NHS at band 7?

The information should be on NHS employers and also from your Trust. I am in England and b7 goes up at 2 years and then 5 years. Band 8 is after 5 years!

Thank you. I don't have access to any of that as I've not started yet.
