GP training in Edinburgh vs England

Hi there I am a single mum currently living in the south west, with some family in Edinburgh and trying to go back to training. Have applied in current round of GP recruitment and have to soon rank my preferences. I don't know whether to rank Edinburgh first or locations in South West (Bath). Does anyone have any experience in either/both places that could give advice on:

quality of training in Edinburgh vs England
differences between the two systems
career-related opportunities - are they more restricted in scotland?
General ethos of training in scotland and placements - do they tend to be good?
any other advantages/disadvantages of moving to the scottish system

Have had loads of time out now so may have to drop out altogether if I don't get a place in this round so I want to get the location right.

My eldest would be moving from Reception to PRimary 1 in edinburgh but it would be an in year transfer so am nervous about moving him and don't know what school he'd end up in!

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/advice
:-)

Stumbled across this thread and thought I’d say sorry you didn’t get any replies back in February, and ask how you got on? I also don’t have any experience of Scottish or Bath-based gp training (I did mine in Berkshire & Oxfordshire) but wish you all the best x
