Placement not contacting me back.

I'm a second year student nurse I have rang my placement a total of 3 times , they say they will call me back to finalise the details but they never do. I also haven't been allocated a practice assessor ! I asked the lady I last spoke to whether I should just come in on Monday (this is when it starts ) to finalise the details she sniffed you're supernumerary and you need to be supervised.

I understand that but I need to go in as my placement officially starts on Monday and I don't want to miss hours . It's like they really don't want student, I'm just wondering my next steps I will call them again but if they say we will call you back shall I just show up on Monday ?

Uni aren't interested and want me to sort it all myself.

Do you know the name of the ward sister/charge nurse? I would email them and also keep trying to phone (you probably have more chance of catching them first thing, just after handover?) Ask to speak to sister, deputy sister or whoever is in charge.

I'm so sorry - it's really shit going into a placement feeling like that, but you might just have been unlucky with who you spoke to. And yes, if it comes to it I would just turn up on Monday morning at handover - if they don't want you that day you could get your off duty sorted at least!

Are you near enough to call in before Monday?

Is it a ward, community or nursing home setting?
If it’s a ward just turn up on Monday. If it’s community keep phoning and tell the uni again that you’re getting nowhere. If it’s a care home turn up on Monday.
I don’t know where you’re based but in my trust we have Practice education facilitators and care home education facilitators who you can contact if you are having problems. Are any other students allocated to start on the same day or have been there before? They might have some tips

You need to contact your lecturer and explain the problem you're having and ask what they advise

I mean there's only so much you can do!

That sounds a bit rubbish. I agree, contact the practice supervisor and explain the situation. Is this is a hospital? most have practice supervisors in house so they can probably pop to the department on your behalf.
