Exemption from UK quarantine rule?

florriepeck · 13/06/2020 16:51

There seems to be a lot of exemptions for essential workers in the current UK arrival quarantine rules.
Before I rebook my holiday that didn't happen, does anyone know whether HCPs are exempt?
I'm a RN in a care home.

To my knowledge, as healthcare professionals, we are not exempt from quarantining (and nor should we be). It's what our Trust's emails say anyway.

The exemption tends to be if you are travelling for work

No, you are not exempt.

There’s no exception for HCPs

Not exempt (wider exemption removed on 31 Juiy), though a few niche roles remain

  • those involved in running clinical trials
  • roles in quality assurance of human or vet medicines
  • those accompanying human cells/blood

You will need supporting documents to prove you fit the definition and your travel is essential for for the specified purpose.

It covers no holiday travel whatsoever. All the exemptions are for those travelling on business.

Surely as an RN in a care home it is more important that you DO quarantine.

The original post says it was from the 13th June?

But all the replies are from today Hmm
