Pregnant junior doctor- on call rota

Hi

I've been advised I should consider coming off the on call rota around month 7 on pregnancy. It's my first pregnancy so I hadn't really thought about it! I've had a read now and think my seniors are right and I probably should come off on calls (I'm in an acute specialty) sooner than when I plan to take maternity leave.

However, I am not clear if my pay will then also be reduced as I will be working only daytime hours and no weekends for a couple of months.

Has anyone got any experience of this? As this is OH/maternity health related should I be paid the same. I will clarify with HR but would like to have an idea of my rights. I'm not a BMA member so can't ask for advice there.

Not sure but speaking from an RN point of view I lost my unsocial payments and was on my standard hourly rate, can you contact HR?

Most people seem to come off oncalls/nights by about 32 weeks, if it's a straight forward pregnancy. The relevant BMA section seems to have loads about calculating maternity pay, but not on pay whilst pregnant. www.bma.org.uk/advice/work-life-support/working-parents

Sounds like you will need to check with HR.
