Locum to permanent

I'm having a nightmare with a previous agency not providing a reference that HR are requesting for permanent position.

I did 1 year with 'agencycrap' for 'nicetrust'. I finished in Oct 2016.

I did some weekend work for nicetrust via their bank system finishing in Dec 2017.

My HR want a reference from crapagency. The original person I dealt with at crapagency is long gone. The agency are ignoring HRs requests (and mine). I've asked HR to go straight to nicetrust.

I can provide time sheets to prove no gaps. All the other referees have come back (5 years worth)

But what else can I do!? And realistically how much value will this reference provide anyway?

Any suggestions really appreciated.

Just to update - HR have given up with crapagency and will talk to nicetrust. Phew.

I would suggest that you contact nicetrust. Depending how many locums they have coming through, they may not remember you well (sorry). But a voice on the phone reminding you about that oncall from hell you worked together 1)helps you to actually write a reference, and 2)makes it a higher priority than vague messages through proxies.

Besides, you seem to be assuming that HR is more competent than the agency. Well, okay it probably is. A bit.
