Any community workers have recommendation for lone working apps please?

Buddy systems and WhatsApp groups aren't great for us (intermediate care team)

Thankyou

Hi
There's one that a team uses in our trust. Can't think of the name of it. Will check and get back to you.

Do yourselves have work android phones?
I think it may be as simple as the findmyphone app. Everyone can be found (providing that their not in the back of beyond)

We tend to have a designated buddy for the day that we check in with and provide support to each other.

Would there not be confidentiality issues using such things?

Tamsin only if every man and his dog could see the addresses and locations. Designated buddy and team coordinator have a need to know and the employer has a duty of care to its employees to provide as safe a workplace as possible.

If you've ever been in someone's home and it's unsafe but your not able to leave....you appreciate having a buddy and coordinator who know where you are

I understand, but if the app hasn't been specially commissioned by the NHS Trust, you don't know what the app developer is doing with the information. How secure us the information on the app? Can other people see it? What happens if the phone gets stolen? I'm not saying rh8s technology shouldn't be used, rather it should be a specially commissioned piece if software used on specially commissioned hardware.

These are nhs android phones with encryption and passwords which we can't download apps without IT doing.

Can I ask if you work in healthcare or nhs and in the community?

Employer has a duty of care to provide safety for employees. They need to know where their employees are should police/ambulance need to be called or if employee is missing to retrace there last steps to inform police.
