When did separation start to feel easier after betrayal and children?

When does it start getting better?

I split with my ex 18 months ago, it has really affected me mentally. He was going behind my back, messaging prostitutes/booking appointments etc it really really broke me. Since we split he started seeing someone 4 months after and now they recently got engaged and I just feel broken all over again. I don’t want him back, but how am I still hurting so much from this seperation whilst he’s just thriving and fine after 11 years together and 2 children. I feel like I meant nothing at all to him, disposed of and used. I’m a shadow of myself, therapy helps but it feels like I’m 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. Ny son was only 3 when we split and my daughter was 11 months old. It’s been a really tough few months and I struggle to still have contact with him. I had my friends wedding yesterday (another kick in the teeth) and he messaged me asking if I’d had a good time. I just need him to not speak to me outside of anything to do with the children. Do I just be honest with him? Sometimes I just miss him so much and just want us all to be a family again.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I had a long marriage that was probably abusive and I finally left after several attempts congratulating myself for leaving. Then he very quickly got a new partner, declared her the love of his life after 2 weeks and it’s completely knocked me for 6.

i am starting counselling next week as I’m starting to realise it’s an issue with my self esteem that I need to work on, is that an option for you?
