Am I overreacting to leaving my partner over his behaviour?

I’ve decided to leave my partner for good as I felt he was selfish and not a good father- borderline emotionally abusive.

He walked out of two jobs without consulting me and then got a job that he has to travel hours away everyday and starts at 6/6:30am.

He promised this job would mean he would be home earlier to pick up our child and that’s barely happened, he’s usually home later than me (after 5pm) so I now have the full morning and evening routine to do single handedly (I work 5 days a week as well) he never cooks, barely cleans and is just lazy in general. It all came to a head after we fell out over our child not going to a nursery that he chose ( stupidly I trusted him to visit it as I couldn’t get the time off work and he was unemployed at the time so could go) when I went to the two settling in sessions it was completely inadequate (did a whole previous post about this). I said she wasn’t going and he said I was ‘blaming him’ for the nursery been bad and that it wasn’t his fault he also said he ‘wasn’t listening to this shit’

I simply said I was frustrated and upset that our child was upset for two days and I took two days annual leave I could have used elsewhere to take our child to a nursery that was inadequate. Anything negative I said about the nursery he claimed he hasn’t seen on the visit. He then gave me the silent treatment for two days, I decided enough was enough when I went to a medical appointment left our child with him for an hour, came back to him saying she had been screaming in pain with her ear and was waiting for me to come back to give her any medicine or do anything. He didn’t ring or message me. I felt he was punishing our child through his silent treatment. Am I overreacting?

He is now refusing to leave our shared home so I’ve gone to my mums house with our daughter. I paid for the entire deposit on our home, he was just paying half the mortgage yet refuses to leave as he says he has nowhere to go.

im sorry you’re going through this. You need to consult a solicitor and get your ducks in a row as soon as you can. He has just as much right to stay in the house as you do about married, even though that feel unfair at the moment.

You’re not over reacting -
in fact good for you- but you’re also not going to get rid of him that quickly or easily, presuming it’s half owned by him?

Please say you ring fenced the deposit!

You can't force him to leave a home he had share in but you can force a sale. Hopefully you put legal protection in place so you get back what you put in.

Yes I got a deed of trust done, I get my entire deposit back before he sees a penny

We are tenants in common and I have a deed of trust to protect my deposit money, I understand I can’t force him out but I’m sharing a room with our child while he’s in our two bed house

OP I’m getting divorced and we have to share a house until it’s sold. We’ve been in this situation for nearly a year. IME this is the way it usually goes

All you can do at this point is see a solicitor and get things rolling to get the house sold. He is a lazy pos. You're doing the right thing even though it's difficult to LTB Flowers
